What is a Delikatessen?
The term comes from the German Delikatessen, delikat meaning “delicate”, essen, “to eat.” In Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Delikatessens are stores offering refined grocery products, while in the USA and Canada, the delicatessen (which lost its “k” in the process) is a grocery store that also serves as a snack bar: sandwiches, salads and soups, eat-in or take-away, are prepared to order in often bustling stalls.
Kavari Delikatessen
Kaviari takes its inspiration from the original delikatessen and the American deli to create a convivial place that combines both delicatessen products and a tasting counter where homemade dishes based on seafood and vegetarian products are prepared every day.
Delikatessen stands for “delicacy”, a word that speaks of finesse, sensitivity and refinement. Kaviari expresses this in the products it selects with care, and the continuous attention it pays to more responsible consumption that respects the planet. But delicacy is also a way of entertaining gourmets and delighting them with surprising family recipes, both traditional and contemporary, seafood cuisine that’s healthy, full of flavour and a joy to eat!
Salmon pastrami, plain tarama and minute blinis, sea smørrebrød, vegetable salads… the Delikatessen Kaviari offers a varied assortment of dishes, a blend of different cuisines Ashkenazi, Danish and American. These dishes are presented around a large counter and can be enjoyed in small portions. at any time of day, on the spot, in the street or at home.
