The Kaviari Delikatessen Concept

What Is a Delikatessen?

The term comes from the German word Delikatessen — delikat meaning “delicate” and essen meaning “to eat.” In Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, Delikatessens refer to shops offering refined gourmet products, whereas in the United States and Canada, the delicatessen (having lost its “k” along the way) evolved into a gourmet grocery that also serves as a casual dining spot. Sandwiches, salads, and soups — enjoyed on-site or to take away — are freshly prepared to order in lively, bustling establishments.

Kaviari Delikatessens

Kaviari draws inspiration from both the original European delikatessen and the American deli to create a convivial destination bringing together fine gourmet products and a tasting counter, where homemade dishes centered around seafood and seasonal vegetables are freshly prepared each day.

Within the word delikatessen lies the idea of delicacy — a notion that evokes finesse, sensitivity, and refinement. Maison Kaviari expresses this through the products it carefully selects and through the constant attention it gives to a more responsible and planet-conscious way of enjoying food. But delicacy is also an art of hospitality: welcoming gourmets and delighting them with surprising family recipes, whether traditional or contemporary — a wholesome seafood cuisine, full of flavour and crafted to bring joy.

Signature Recipes

Salmon pastrami, classic tarama with freshly made blinis, seafood smørrebrød, vibrant vegetable salads… the Kaviari Delikatessen offers a diverse selection of dishes inspired by Ashkenazi, Danish, and American culinary traditions. Displayed along a generous counter, these creations can be enjoyed in small portions at any time of day — on-site, on the go, or at home.
